Practical information about the Grottes de Maxange
It’s an easy visit from our campsite, just 20 minutes from the Grottes de Maxange. A true wonder of nature, the Grottes de Maxange offer a unique spectacle of rare concretions.
The stalactites and stalagmites, known as draperies, stretch for almost 90m. All these forms seem to defy the laws of gravity, suspended from the ceiling of the cavity.
The site, discovered in 2000, has now been awarded the Qualité Tourisme label. It is open to the public from April to November. Visits are organized daily in July and August, from 9am to 7pm. Tours last around 40 minutes and cost €5.90 for children and €9.50 for adults.
A guide accompanies you and explains the formation of the galleries, the geology of the cave and the source of the concretions. Be sure to wear warm clothing, as the temperature inside the cave is around 13°C all year round.
